Is your car eligible for the cash for clunker program? It’s really easy to find out if you qualify for the cash for clunker program 2009, the requirements are not difficult.
1. You must have owned your car for the last year and have proof of insurance for the same time period.
2. Your car can’t be older than 25 years old.
3. The federal combined fuel efficiency must be 18 mpg or less.
4. You must buy a new car that improves the gas mileage over your older vehicle by at least 4 miles, but you get more money if you improve the mileage by 10 miles.
5. The new car’s value must not exceed $45000.
6. You may also lease a car, but the least period must be for at least 5 years, which most car experts say is too long for it to be of benefit to the consumer.
